In dialogue with a Nobel Laureate

CUHK’s Department of Biomedical Engineering was honoured to host a special forum on 15 April, featuring Nobel Laureate Professor Gregg Semenza. The forum, titled “Dialogue with The Master: The Journey towards Excellence”, highlighted a series of student project presentations and a dynamic discussion with Professor Semenza, recipient of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2019.

The innovative student projects spanned a range of topics, showcasing the diverse research interests within the department. Professor Semenza provided insightful feedback and encouraged students to engage in meaningful and interactive discussions on topics such as the challenges of triumphs of doing scientific research. The Q&A session also allowed students to quench their thirst of curiosity and seek answers from the master.

This forum is part of the Department’s ongoing initiative to connect students with eminent scientists. Students gained valuable insights from the master’s distinguished career, knowing more about scientific discovery and innovation.
