2001年，陳君賜教授剛完成專科培訓，本是前途穩健、收入優渥的胃腸科醫生。偶然得知盧煜明教授在母體血液中檢測胎兒DNA的突破性發現後，他深受啟發，遂毅然轉換跑道，前往中大師從盧教授攻讀博士學位。
