Hard work pays off

University admission scholarships up 40% to include all students getting a 5**

Online classes and the worrying prospect of last-minute changes to examination arrangements have sadly characterised the senior secondary school life of this year’s Diploma of Secondary Education candidates. To recognise their efforts, the University is upping its scholarship offers by 40% to $19mn for the 2022–23 cohort, which will more than double the number of beneficiaries from 310 to 740.

Under the new scheme, students admitted via the Joint University Programmes Admissions System with a grade of 5** in seven or more subjects will be awarded renewable scholarships of $80,000 per year, covering full tuition and an allowance of nearly $38,000, plus a lump sum of $80,000 for taking part in one or more overseas exchange or learning activity. For the first time, the University is giving one-off scholarships of $5,000 to freshmen achieving 5** in one subject, while scholarships or allowances for those with two to six 5** subjects will be raised by between $2,000 and nearly $9,000.
