Friendship on the field: CUHK and HKU play 18th Vice-Chancellor’s Cup Soccer Match

CUHK hosted the 18th Vice-Chancellor’s Cup Soccer Match, held with the University of Hong Kong (HKU), at the Sir Philip Haddon-Cave Sports Field on 4 May. Former CUHK Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Henry Wong Nai-ching and Dean of Student Affairs of HKU Professor Samson Tse Shu-ki officiated at the kick-off ceremony of the match, which HKU won 1-0.

The match was first played in 2003 to commemorate collaborations between the two universities during the SARS outbreak. Since then, the event has been held yearly, aiming to deepen the two universities’ friendship. To date, CUHK has won 11 games, HKU has won three and the teams have drawn four times.
