Council appointment and reappointments

Mr Wang Geyang (pictured above), student in the third year of doctoral studies in Information Engineering, has been appointed by the University Council as a full-time postgraduate student member of the Council elected in accordance with Statutes 11.1 (r), 11.6A(l)(a) and l1.6A(3) of The Chinese University of Hong Kong Ordinance (the Ordinance), with the election result verified pursuant to Section 13 of the Regulations Governing the Election of Convocation, Staff and Student Council Member.  The appointment is for a period of one year with effect from 23 April 2025. He will cease to be a member of the Council if he ceases to meet the criteria of eligibility for election and appointment under Statute 11.1(r).

Meanwhile, the following reappointments have been made to the Council under Statute 11 of the Ordinance:

  1. Professor John Chai Yat-chiu has been reappointed as Chairman of the Council, under paragraph 1(a) for a period of three years with effect from 1 May 2025.
  2. Dr Norman Chan Tak-lam has been reappointed as Vice-Chairman of the Council, under paragraph 1(ab) for a period of three years with effect from 18 April 2025.
  3. Mr Dominic Pang Yat-ting has been reappointed as member of the Council, under paragraph 1(k) for a period of three years with effect from 1 May 2025.
  4. Mr Nicholas Chan Hiu-fung has been reappointed as member of the Council, under paragraph 1(k) for a period of three years with effect from 1 June 2025.
