More than 20 Positive Workplace Service Awards presented to recognise workplace excellence and positive culture
12 March 2026
On 19 January, CUHK held its 2025 Positive Workplace Service Awards Presentation Ceremony, presenting 22 honours. Spanning Individual Awards, Team Awards, Panel’s Appreciation Awards, Positive Leadership Awards and Certificates of Appreciation, they recognise staff members who foster constructive communication, strengthen mutual support within teams, introduce creative initiatives to enhance workplace morale, deliver tangible benefits to service users, colleagues and other stakeholders, and contribute to the units’ and the University’s reputation and institutional standing.
This year’s team awardees represent a broad range of disciplines. The Art Museum team has sought to reimagine the Museum as a space that everyone loves and knows. Alongside carefully preserving its collections, the team has transformed studies about artefacts into interactive workshops, inviting the public to experience the stories and craftsmanship behind each treasure.
The CU-Med Biobank team, meanwhile, collects biosamples and clinical data donated for research and secured ISO 20387 certification for the Biobank. The team aspires for colleagues to work, learn and grow happily, contributing to scientific progress, the University and the city.
The Centre for Sign Linguistics and Deaf Studies also received a Team Award. In 2006, it launched a Sign Bilingualism and Co-enrolment Education Programme, in which deaf and hearing children learn together using both sign and spoken languages. Its dual-effort B.A. Programme in Bimodal Bilingual Studies trains sign language interpreters and teachers, strengthening inclusion across society.
Among the individual awardees, Mr Chris Kon Siu-kwong, an engineer from the Campus Development Office, was recognised with both an Individual Award and a Positive Leadership Award. During the construction of Shaw College’s hostel project, he coordinated the securing of an Occupation Permit within a compressed timeframe, making daily site visits to ensure close communication and steady progress.
Established in 2017 and held biennially, the Positive Workplace Service Awards honour not only exemplary work outcomes but also the positive ethos and work culture demonstrated by individuals and teams. The Scheme also supports the University’s Positive Performance Management (PPM) and Workplace Courtesy and Civility (WCC) initiatives. All full-time staff members are eligible to participate, either individually or as part of a team.
