Shaw College celebrates 40 years of growth

Shaw College’s 40th anniversary banquet brought together 480 guests for a memorable evening at Hong Kong Science Park on 30 January. The event was honoured by the College’s trustees, members, alumni, students and friends to celebrate four decades of achievements and shared memories.

The banquet was attended by distinguished guests, including the Guest of Honour Dr Raymond Chan Wai-man, Chairman of the Shaw Foundation; Professor Dennis Lo Yuk-ming, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK; Professor Isabella Poon Wai-yin, Provost of CUHK; Clement Fung Siu-to, Chair of the Board of Trustees of Shaw College; and Professor Freedom Leung Yiu-kin, Head of Shaw College. A highlight of the night was the gathering of all the six past and present Heads of the College, celebrating the College’s enduring leadership.

The programme featured a lively dance by children of Shaw alumni, an inspiring sharing session by former Sir Run Run Shaw Gold Medalists Dr Rohit Kumar Verma and Jason Leung Ho-cheong, and musical performances by the Shaw College Choir. The event concluded with a captivating piano duet by alumnus Shum Kinwai and Professor Grace Yu Chung-yan of CUHK-Shenzhen’s School of Music.

The banquet was a memorable gathering for the community to reconnect. Upholding its founding aspiration of learning, innovation, and benefitting humankind, the College members pledged to continue to nurture its students and strengthen its community, moving forward together towards a brighter future.
