Chung Chi College carnival celebrates 75 years of legacy

CUHK’s Chung Chi College (CCC) launched its 75th anniversary celebrations with a grand carnival and kick-off ceremony on 17 January. Nearly 4,000 teachers, students, alumni, and friends gathered to witness this milestone.

The ceremony was officiated distinguished guests and alumni. Under the theme “Chung Chi Spirit. Joyful Journey. Celebrating 75 Years,” Dr Norman Chan Tak-lam (CC/1976/Sociology), Vice-Chairman of the CUHK Council and Chairman of the CCC Board of Trustees, said the carnival as a prelude to a year of events, including talks, talent contest, sports competitions, and the anniversary gala, allowing the community to reconnect and celebrate the College’s legacy.

During the ceremony, the officiating guests beat drums in unison and chanted “Chung Chi College, a family so dear, in CUHK’s embrace, we hold it near” together, symbolising the unity between Chung Chi and the rest of CUHK, and expressing their wish for the College to carry forward its legacy and achieve new glory.  Over 2,000 attendees also set a record by singing the College anthem together.

A friendly tug-of-war, led by Mr Tang Ping-keung and Mr Anthony Ngai King-kwok showcases the teamwork and perseverance of the Chung Chi community

The carnival featured over 80 booths and activities, including games, sports, creative markets, food stalls, and a pet-friendly zone. Stage performances showcased student talent in cheerleading, Latin dance, flamenco, singing, and rope jumping, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere.
