Council appointments

The following persons have been elected or appointed as members of the Council, in accordance with The Chinese University of Hong Kong Ordinance:

  • 2 persons elected by, and from among, the Heads of the original Colleges and of Shaw College and the Masters of the additional Colleges, in accordance with Statute 11.1(f), for a period of one year from 19 January 2026:
    • Professor Stephen H.S. Wong, Head of United College
    • Professor Anthony Chan Tak-cheung, Master of Wu Yee Sun College
  • 2 persons elected by, and from among, the Deans of the Faculties and the Dean of the Graduate School, in accordance with Statute 11.1(g), for a period of one year from 22 January 2026:
    • Professor Tang Xiaobing, Dean of Arts
    • Professor Zhou Lin, Dean of Business Administration
  • 2 persons appointed by the Council on the nomination of the Boards of Trustees of the original Colleges and of Shaw College and the Committees of Overseers of the additional Colleges, in accordance with Statute 11.1(e) of the Ordinance, for a period of one year from 2 February 2026:
    • Dr Benedict N.Y. Sin, Wu Yee Sun College
    • Dr Wong Chung-kiu, C.W. Chu College

Introduction of new appointee

Dr Benedict N.Y. Sin is currently Director and General Manager of Myer Jewelry Mfr. Ltd. and an Independent Non-Executive Director of King Fook Holdings Ltd. He is also a Member of the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants, Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales, Solicitor of the High Court of Hong Kong and a Member of the Law Society of Hong Kong.
