Eight high achievers receive CUHK Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships for Excellence

19 November 2025

CUHK recently presented Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships for Excellence to eight outstanding students, in recognition of their remarkable achievements.

At the award ceremony, Professor Dennis Lo Yuk-ming, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK, congratulated the eight recipients, noting that the scholarships recognised not only their achievements but also their potential and aspiration to become future leaders.

Raymond Chan Kwok-wai, a second-year student in Medicine (Global Physician-Leadership Stream), is passionate about healthcare equity and volunteering. When he was in secondary school, he tutored underprivileged students for free and taught English to children with special educational needs in Thailand on two occasions, which raised his awareness of healthcare disparities. Later, he volunteered at Queen Mary’s Hospital’s psychiatric rehabilitation clinic and nursing homes, participated in Alzheimer’s research and organised several medical service trips to Nepal to promote healthcare equity. Raymond sees the scholarship as encouragement in his pursuit of medical equity.

Katie Tang Wing-lam, a second-year student in Global Economics and Finance, is eager to embrace new challenges. Upon joining CUHK, she became the marketing officer of the Society of Global Economics and Finance, and joined AIESEC, an international youth organisation, where she has planned, designed and led various events and conferences, offering one-on-one coaching to support members’ growth. Katie saw the scholarship as an inspiration to continue growing, striving for excellence and exploring all possibilities.

Since the 2021-22 academic year, CUHK Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships for Excellence have been offered to the most outstanding freshers admitted to full-time undergraduate programmes, irrespective of the admission channel and residency. Each year, the scheme gives awards of HK$50,000 each to eight students.
