CUHK achieves record ranking of 41st in THE World University Rankings 2026
23 October 2025
CUHK has reached a new high of 41st in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, three places up from last year. This marks the University’s best performance since the rankings were launched in 2010, and also means that it has remained in the world’s top 100 universities for an entire decade.
The THE Rankings takes 17 performance indicators in five areas into account, judging universities from around the world for performance in teaching, research environment, research quality, industry and international outlook. CUHK achieved a perfect score in five performance indicators this year: “institutional income”, “research productivity”, “research income”, “research excellence” and “patents.” The “Doctorate-bachelor ratio” and “teaching reputation” indicators recorded the most notable improvement year on year.
Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Dennis Lo Yuk-ming said the results were deeply encouraging: “Maintaining a top-100 position for ten consecutive years affirms CUHK’s leadership in international higher education and inspires us to further promote knowledge innovation. Looking ahead, CUHK will stay vigilant to the challenges ahead and remain committed to nurturing globally-minded future leaders with academic excellence and aspirations to contribute back to societies.”
