The Postgraduate Students Team takes the trophy of the VC’s Cup 2024

Postgraduate Students Team wins the Vice-Chancellor’s Cup 2024

The Postgraduate Students Team was crowned champion in the highly-anticipated Vice-Chancellor’s Cup 2024, which concluded last Saturday (13 April). This is also the first time the team has participated.

The VC’s Cup was back after ten years, having a record 430 participants from eight teams competing in badminton, basketball, soccer, tennis and table tennis matches from mid-March to last weekend.

“We are thrilled to revive the meaningful event this year, and for the first time we have welcomed the participation of postgraduate students and colleagues from all nine Colleges – adding a wonderful touch of diversity and excitement to the games and enhancing the overall experience for everyone involved,” said Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Rocky S. Tuan in the prize presentation ceremony.

The Cup, first held in 1981, aims to promote positive spirit though physical activities and foster a sense of belonging among staff. This year, colleges group themselves into six teams, running alongside the Central Team and the postgraduates.

The Postgraduate Students Team seized the crown with a total score of 20, having bagged the first prize in both soccer and table tennis.

In other events, New Asia College took home the trophy in basketball and the Central Team came top in badminton. The joint team of Shaw College and Wu Yee Sun College won the championship in tennis.
