19 CUHK subjects listed world’s top 50 in latest QS ranking

CUHK has 19 subjects ranking among the global top 50 in the latest edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject, with eight of them also coming top in Hong Kong.

Nursing claims the 8th spot worldwide, communication and media studies ranks 26th, and medicine and modern languages both rank 28th. Also included are two “broad subject areas” of arts and humanities and life sciences and medicine.

CUHK’s first-in-Hong Kong subjects in the league table are anthropology, classic and ancient history, communication and media studies, medicine, nursing, philosophy, sports-related subjects, and theology, divinity and religious studies.

The 2024 edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject compares the performance of more than 16,400 individual university programmes, taken by students at more than 1500 universities in 96 locations around the world.

Five key metrics are used to compile the QS subject rankings, including academic reputation, employer reputation, citations, H-index, and international research networks.
