Together we run

A total of 18 CUHK students completed training as guide runners to support visually-impaired athletes in the “Happy Run” contest hosted by the New Asia College last month. All of them finished the event successfully, with several visually-impaired athletes making to the top ten runners.

The CUHK Guide Runner Programme was organised by the Office of Student Affair’s SEN Service with training provided by Blind Sports Hong Kong. Following the race, the OSA arranged a campus tour for the athletes and their guide runners, covering the Pavilion of Harmony, the Gate of Wisdom, and Lake Ad Excellentiam. The tour concluded with a hearty lunch at Chung Chi Canteen.

The guide runner programme is expected to help students gain a deeper understanding of the ways to engage with visually-impaired individuals, specifically in sports. The OSA also hopes that the athletes, with the support of the student guides, can be empowered to achieve their full potential.
